Adventures in Korea

Well, my first official day in Korea is over! I am so tired. Woke up at 5am this morning probably due to jet lag. Although actually I was still pretty tired so I could've went right back to sleep if I really wanted to.

Anyway, backtrack to yesterday. Flight was long: 11 hours and let me just say that Hawaiian Airlines isn't nearly as nice as Cathay. The seats are smaller and there's no personal TVs!! And Cathay's food is much better. I felt so gross during and after the flight cuz of all the crap I ate on the plane, and then I wasn't even hungry for dinner once I got there. Bummer. In fact, I feel like I am already fooded out. WHAT?! Yeah. It's pretty depressing because I was so excited about the food and now I am never hungry or have much of an appetite even though the food still looks so good! :(

But yeah, after getting off the plane, I got to my hostel without trouble. I arrived at the same time as this girl from Paris. She was quite an interesting character. Super into Buddhism and going to monastery retreats and stuff. She was headed to one for a week today. But she was nice and we went to get drinks at the convenient store and dinner nearby. I just pointed and ordered, it ended up being some rice ball kinda things with seaweed and some pickled/kimchee cabbage stuff. Not bad...

Today I met up with Kristy and went to the temple together. She did a session while I just wandered around for a few hours. Most of the stores were still closed until 11am though, so I really just wandered the streets.  While waiting for Kristy to finish talking to some missionaries afterwards, I got to talk to Steve Lund, or Elder Lund. Area Seventy in Utah and Nuskin Executive. He was so nice! Then Kristy and I went to Gangnam and ate some street food- my first taste! It was good, but kinda heavy and filled me up for the rest of the day. We then went to this bookstore and I bought a bunch of super cute stationary. Seriously so cute!!! I had to try hard to contain myself and not buy everything, cuz they were pretty cheap too! Like $1 for each little packet of envelopes/paper. Kristy left after that so I just walked around on my own. I went shopping down at the shops in the Gangnam subway station and got a few things there. Then I went to the Coex mall. My feet, or I guess it was just my left foot, was in such pain I couldn't shop for very long. I think I need to ice it or something actually...feels like I sprained it except I didn't...Anyway, headed home after a while and that was pretty much my day. I think I am gonna go to bed now cuz I am so tired!
